Cardigan & Elefantes

Hi, hope you had a lovely weekend. It was lovely and sunny here so i took my knitting outside and sat on a pile of earth, which will hopefully one day become a garden :)

I finished off some gifts this week an Elefante for my 'sort of' nephew Max.

and one for my cousins baby Poppy....

I also finished a cardigan for Poppy's 1st birthday. Babe in the Woods by Melissa LaBarre. It was so quick to knit and a great pattern.

I made the 12/18 months sized...It looks a bit small so i hope it fits her.

Well i'm off to do some more gardening with my helper..... :)

A Trip To Wonderwool

Last weekend me and my Mom headed off to Wales for the day to the Wonderwool, wool and fibre festival.

We set off at 6.30am (I was very excited) and knew I would be stopping to take photos and to eat breakfast, which was a picnic of bacon and cheese muffins that my Mom made, it was a good job we took them as we were hungry about half an hour after setting off :)

The weather was lovely and the views along the way were beautiful.

We got to the Royal Welsh Showground about 9.30 and walked up to wait for the doors to open at 10.

I didn't take many photos inside...I was so busy shopping....but I did quite well at sticking to my shopping list and budget.

I loved the knitted garden display :)

And here's what I got......

Some Natural BFL Aran from Laal Bear for hats.

A hooded cardigan pattern from Woolyknit, I can't wait to knit this. It is made from chunky yarn so should go quite quickly

Decadence DK Merino and Silk blend, from bluefaced.com/ I'm not sure what I'm going to make with this yet.

A selection of needles.

A gorgeous batt and fibre from Sara's Texture Crafts.

More fibre from Mandacrafts.

The Toft Alpaca pattern book. Which has a gorgeous selection of patterns in it.

And some silk waste, I'm not sure what to do with this....I don't know how it will be spin, but it will be interesting to give it ago.

It was a fantastic day, with a great atmosphere, the people we met were lovely and the pancakes with cream were very tasty :) I can't wait for next year now.

Knitting With Handspun

Hi, hope you are having a lovely week!

I'm so tired lately and still have a sore throat so I haven't been up to much, just working and lying on the sofa knitting and occasionally doing a bit of spinning.(which normally would be great.)

I finally knit from my handspun :) A slouchy hat. Shetland wool in the 'After the Storm' colourway.

This was so lovely to spin and I love the colours. It came out as a Double Knit/Aran weight. I made another Norie hat but left out the lace sections.

This one is for my Mom too, I can't wear Shetland for long :(

Normally my Dad or Russ will take photos for me, (like above) but first I asked my Mom...which was an experience :) she took about 200 photos mostly of Fee squirrel watching.

and a couple of me...
here I am wiping the tears away, they were from laughter though and not because of how long we had been out there in the freezing cold :)

I have started on 2 shawls as well, both Ishbel by Ysolde Teague. I love knitting with handspun.

Hats

Hello, Hope you are having a great week. I have had 2 days off work as I have tonsillitis :( I have had it for nearly a week now, hopefully it will go soon. I haven't felt like doing anything but I do have some items that I finished before I felt ill.

Another Norie hat by Gudrun Johnston in the hot chocolate colourway. This time I only did 3 repeats of the lace pattern instead of 4 and I love the amount of slouchyness. I have started another one in the same plum colour that I knitted my original Norie in, that my Mom acquired :)

I also re knit my slouchy beret (Sirdar Hayfield Pattern) and made it a lot smaller.

I like the style but I think I should have used larger needles as the knitted fabric is very stiff and dense.

I finished spinning and plying the textured batts.

I got 177 yards of a sport weight yarn, maybe enough for a small cowl or fingerless mitts, I'm not sure though so I think I will wait before I cast anything on.

The rainbow fibre is nearly finished, I just have to ply the singles :)

Socks...but not for me

I don't know what the matter is with my sock knitting, but I can't seem to knit a pair that fit me properly. My Mom is doing really well out of this though as they all fit her :)

I finished 2 pairs before Christmas and 2 after.

The first two are the Hermione's Everyday pattern. I can't find the ball bands for the yarn, I put them somewhere safe :( Luckily my Mom does not mind if her socks don't match.

Basic Vanilla sock in Opal sock yarn Fairies & Elves. (these match, but that was just luck)

Tidepool socks by Mary-Heather Cogar in Araucania Ranco Multi 333

I love this sock pattern, I have some more of this yarn in a different colour so I'm going to try knitting a pair for me.

I finished spinning the textured batts and have plied them. I soaked the yarn this morning. It is quite thick and thin so I'm not sure what to knit with it....maybe some mittens or a hat.

Next on the wheel is some very bright rainbow merino that I received in a swap. There's about 25g so it shouldn't take me too long to spin. It is so lovely and soft.

Well I had better go and get ready for work, I'm not starting until 9 am today which is lovely!

See you soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
